Fun Things to do in the Fall with your senses Enjoy Fall Beauty-See and Hear A week or two later, we watch the leaves change and fall off in the Valley. One reason is we live in a valley and we watch the trees in the mountains change and fall off. Now that we live in Virginia, we have enjoyed the warmer temps and feel like fall lasts a while. If the weather was cool and rainy the weekend you planned to leaf watch, it may have been blown away by the wind. This was usually from the end of September to mid-October. When we lived in the northern part of the country this process happened very quickly. The process of the trees changing their leaf color, to falling off is amazing. This is the time of year when plants began to prepare for winter by going dormant, and they start to lose their leaves. Every day with Fall can be a little different in temps which makes everyone happy. Fall in one day can go from the feeling of Spring in the morning, summer at lunch, and a Fall chill in the evening. If you live up north you may have already had your first fall frost. The calendar doesn’t say Fall until September 22nd as the official fall equinox. I may end up saying, “I think I love fall most of all.” Fall Beauty Changes I now have more time in better weather to enjoy what I didn’t see before. After moving farther south, I now appreciate the beauty of it since I’m not getting colder and colder by the day. Experience Fall Beauty with all your senses.įall has never been my favorite season. The above can be extended by having several phases interrupted by short breaks.Hand held, less head movement, mostly left and right: less than 10min.Hand held, a lot of neck bending required: less than 4min.Overheating causes the phone to reduce the speed of CPU and GPU, so games have to be able to keep frame rates high even at lower performances, but due to the wide variety of phones Cardboard is used with, developers have to take this into account anyway.Īs ideal depends on too many factors, my suggestion for a reasonable length would be something like this: With short rounds it is easy to reset the viewing direction every few minutes, so that even without any correction games become playable. Drift makes it pretty much impossible to develop anything that requires looking forward for a long time, but this can be compensated by design. The technical problems like drift and heat are hardly usable to determine session length, as they depend on the phone. Combined with the less taxing playing posture this allows for much longer sessions than a game that is played without breaks while having to lift your arms all the time. Even if the next jump is triggered immediately, there is still a short break of a few seconds in which the head returns to a resting position. Again Caaaaardboard! works better, as a single jump takes less than a minute, after which the player has to actively trigger the next one, but can take a pause if needed, can put Cardboard down or simply stop the game. Similar to Caaaaardboard! and Proton Pulse my own projects aim for something made of several short rounds. Any experience that relies solely on head movement for control will have to be shorter, as humans simply aren't trained to move their head around a lot. Proton Pulse, because the first allows you to look down most of the time, while the second requires a lot of tiring head movement and neck bending. I pretty much prefer using head straps for anything longer than about 3min, but with the regular Cardboard it is much easier to play Caaaaardboard! for a longer time than e.g. In situations where I have to hold the viewer, it depends on the app. I've had others try the same configuration with games running at decent frame rates, and some of them felt sick for half an hour after about five minutes of gameplay. So with the right conditions, there probably isn't an upper limit. But I can stomach pretty much everything in VR, didn't have to hold up Cardboard and phone, instead turned comfortably on a swivel chair, which makes drift a non issue, with my arms and the controller resting in my lap. I've wandered through large demo scenes of Unity assets like Deeper Down from TaD Sewer Kit for a similar duration, and the only reason to stop was that I had seen everything. #UNITY 3.5 ANGRY BOTS BLUETOOTH# I've played through a VR version of Angry Bots several times on a DIY Cardboard with padding, head straps and a bluetooth controller, taking up to about 40min in one session, and I loved it. I'll use games as examples, but the same is pretty much true for other VR experiences too. One can simply ignore all the advanced functions and only use the switch on the side to toggle between mouse emulation for screen taps and gamepad mode for games that use the left analog stick, and it will work just fine.ĭepends on the type of experience and the player. #UNITY 3.5 ANGRY BOTS FULL# Walking backwards through a space station full of angry robots shooting at you is not a good survival strategy.īut all in all the thing is so damn cheap and useful that I'd consider it a must buy for anybody using Cardboard, maybe even for anybody with an Android phone, the only disadvantage being the poor battery life. #UNITY 3.5 ANGRY BOTS FREE# in the SBS version of Angry Bots (based on a free Unity 4.X demo project) it is possible to walks sideways and backwards, but not forwards with the controller. In some ways they went to far, the fact that the slider sends both digital signals for the d-pad and analog values for the stick axis at the same time confuses some apps, e.g. Using all functions requires learning a number of key combinations and then deciding what to use in which order, as not all functions are available at the same time due to the use of modal button combinations. The price for this is a rather high level of complexity. #UNITY 3.5 ANGRY BOTS FOR ANDROID# It will also work as a mouse, a camera remote for Android and iOS, can control volume and play/fast forward/rewind in Android media players, can be used to navigate/control Android and many Android apps and will emulate the (strange and now outdated) iCade standard used by some old Arcade emulators on iOS. It can emulate two analog sticks, d-pad, START, SELECT, X, Y, A, B, left shoulder and right shoulder buttons, all with five physical buttons and a two axis analog slider. This tiny controller is a pretty insane device.
